Vegas Over/Under: 42.5
Fromal’s Record Projection: 40-42 The Bet: Hammer the under The Philadelphia 76ers appear to one day. However, let’s not create an air of disappointment by expecting too much, too soon.
Vegas, likely capitalizing on the enthusiasm that surrounds all of the future stars, is already doing this. Now, betting under is one of this year’s most easy sports bets.
Joel Embiid is not guaranteed to stay healthier. Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons have played at a zero matches. The remainder of the roster is laden with upside down, but they’re by no means sure to break and produce strongly positive results in 2017-18.
Lest we forget, the Sixers went 28-54 during the 2016-17 season. Should you bet the over, you are counting on a minimum of a 15-game improvement, and that is quite a good deal to ask.
Of course, disagreements exist to the contrary. Philadelphia had numerous turnover issues last year that counting on two rookie playmakers to lead the charge isn’t actually a problem. It won 28 games with Embiid only suiting up 31 occasions, and both numbers are likely to trend up going forward, especially with more depth surrounding the gifted centre.
But incremental advancement remains a lot more likely than a massive jump from deep from the lottery to above .500.
